Patriotic fingernails

It’s nine o’clock on April 29th, a day that will go down in history as the day I marbled my fingernails in red, white and blue in honour of the royal wedding. The build-up to the event has been immense and BBC 1, which has been covering the fiesta for the last hour and will continue to do so throughout the day, is now showing hundreds of cheering people – some from afar as Chicago and Sydney – waving their Union Jacks, all eager to catch a glimpse of my beautifully marbled nails.

I had no idea my decision to opt for red, white and blue would cause such a furore but I’m truly glad it did – now, perhaps, more people will begin to marble and thus change their lives forever.

I’ve gone for stripes, since they’re what all the cool kids are being seen in right now. Word to the wise – marbling stripes is a tricky business. Don’t overdo it with the cocktail stick, as the lines become too thin and less defined. You want the world to see your stripes. Applying a base coat of white is also a great idea, as this will make the colour pop!

So, without further ado, here’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for – the unveiling of my charming new nails, far better than any McQueen wedding dress. Tadaa!

Wedding fun a-go-go!

Here’s what other people are up to, by way of royal wedding celebrations. Woop!

What could be better than a domino mosaic of the happy couple?

Well, how about some uber-cute royal bunting.

It may not be marbling, but Katy Perry’s nails are rocking the royal style too.

And if you’re in Manchester today and fancy celebrating in style, head to Edge Street in the Northern Quarter for some craft workshops, barbershop choirs and swing dance lessons. Huzzah!
