Quick crafts: Easy-peasy pop-up cards
2D creations are soooooo passe, people … Get in with the cool arts and crafts crowd with these uber-simple and very effective pop-up cards, the base for which can be fashioned in just five minutes. Perfectomundo!
How to: Make pop-up cards in a jiffy (that’s 1/100 of a second, don’t you know?)
Step 1: Measure out a 10.5 cm x 14 cm card and fold in half.
Step 2: Make two 3 cm-long slits a quarter from each end of the fold.
Step 3: Fold the resulting two flaps down, then cut two 1 cm-long slits and fold again, so what you end up with (very) vaguely resembles the turrets of a castle.
Step 4: Unfold, push out the flaps and then bend the card so you have three steps down each side.
Step 5: Stick this base down onto a bigger piece of card, measuring 12 cm x 16 cm.
Step 6: Pretty it up for whoever it’s for and hey presto! As if by magic, you have a beautiful pop-up card.
Here’s the how-to in pictures. Happy crafting, my friends.
And here’s my Blue Peter moment with two I just so happened to make earlier:
