Nail art, journalism style
News flash, people. When it comes to your fingernails, marbling’s out and newspaper print is in – which journalists, authors and any other wordsmiths out there will be overjoyed to hear. It’s quick, easy and fun, so you’ll definitely be rocking this look more often than not.
How to: Get front-page fingernails
Equipment
– Grey varnish (I used 17’s Chaperone at £2.99. You can use white but I always think my nails look like I’ve Tipp-exed them when I do)
– Rubbing alcohol (vodka or white rum can be used as a substitute and I’ve heard tell water works as well)
– Newspaper
Method
– Paint your nails grey
– Once dry, dunk in your vodka/rum/rubbing alcohol for 5 seconds
– Wrap your nail in newspaper and press down hard
– Once all nails are done, topcoat them carefully
– Wash your hands to get the print off your fingers and bish, bash, bosh – stop-the-presses fingernails!
Hot tips: The harder you press down, the darker and clearer your font will appear. Headlines look particularly effective!

This is so creative! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks! It’s so easy to do as well. I’ve been marbling my nails for quite a while but find it very time-consuming and quite wasteful. This is a great way to get ace nails with minimal effort! 🙂
I hardly wear polish and usually stick to just whatever’s in the bottle. What is nail marbling? Sounds like mixing different polishes, but isn’t that a huge waste?
It is pretty wasteful, but it looks great. Takes about an hour to do all ten nails, but it is worth the effort. Here’s a video of how to do it, and some photos of when I marbled my nails in stripes for the Royal Wedding last year (or tried to – stripes are hard!)
You should definitely give marbling a go! I was never into painting my nails before, but now I love it!
It looks so nice! I can’t wait to paint my nails now haha
Let me know how you get on!
